Little Wold Vineyard Wedding Photographer | Alex & Louise

Alex and Louise’s wedding at Little Wold Vineyard had sunshine, good food and a surprise brass band. Then the evening light turned up and gave us a bloody brilliant excuse for another wander through the vines. What a day it was!

This was my first wedding here, and what an introduction. From getting ready at Raywell Hall Country Lodges to everyone getting on it out on the terrace, there was plenty to photograph. The views were lovely, obviously. But the people absolutely made it.

A wedding morning, with time for a game of pool

We started at Raywell Hall Country Lodges, where Alex and Louise were both getting ready. Alex even managed to fit in a game of pool in his wedding suit. As you do!

I love those little bits of a wedding morning. The finishing touches are part of it, but so is whatever everyone’s actually doing while they wait. You don’t need to stop being yourselves because I’ve turned up with a camera.

Louise’s makeup was by Rebecca Louise Makeup and Beauty, with hair by Luxoria Bridal and flowers from Gathered at Dusk. Then it was over to South Cave for the wedding.

Fairy lights, a kiss and a whole load of confetti

Little Wold Vineyard sits on Beverley Road in South Cave, East Yorkshire. You’ve got rows of vines, countryside views and that glass-fronted building looking out across it all. A proper change of scene from a city wedding.

For Alex and Louise’s ceremony, guests were close around them, with warm fairy lights behind them as they shared a kiss. Afterwards, it was outside for confetti. Big smiles, colour everywhere and everyone joining in. Always a good combination!

The day stayed sunny, with a breeze helping to keep everyone cool. We made the most of the space outside, including a wander for some couple photographs. Walking, a little twirl and plenty of laughing together. Nothing that needed to become a massive production.

Good food and the bits you’ve put time into

The food was proper good, from the appetisers through to the main courses and the beautifully put-together desserts. The reception tables were full of flowers and the details Alex and Louise had chosen, with all that wood and natural light around them.

I’ll always make room for those photographs alongside the people. You’ve spent time choosing the flowers, the menu and how the room looks. It’s good to have that in the gallery too, as well as the speeches, the reactions and your mates enjoying themselves.

Back Chat Brass had other ideas for a quiet evening

Alex and Louise had kept a surprise up their sleeves: Back Chat Brass. And what a surprise to spring on your guests!

The photographs tell this bit pretty well. Musicians in among everyone, guests singing and dancing, then a party out on the patio terrace overlooking the vineyard. Such a vibe. You can have all the lovely views in the world, but this is the stuff that makes a wedding feel like your wedding.

Stretch Pizza kept everyone fed with fresh stonebaked pizza as the celebrations carried on. Brass band, pizza and a terrace party? A very strong combination, that.

One more wander through the vines

Earlier on, we’d photographed the two of them sitting in the sunshine and laughing together in their sunglasses. Then the evening gave us a different look altogether. Warm light coming through the vines, the sun behind Louise and the two of them holding hands. Unreal.

This is why I like keeping portraits flexible. We can have a short wander earlier, get you back to your people and see what the light’s doing later. You don’t need to give up your whole evening or work your wedding around a list of photographs.

Alex and Louise, thank you for having me along. A brilliant first visit to Little Wold, and a terrace party I was very happy to be in the middle of!
