Hull Based Wedding Photographer

Creative alternative wedding photographer in Yorkshire for fun nerdy couples who want relaxed natural photography

Planning a wedding in Hull?

Hi, I’m Dan, a Hull based wedding photographer specialising in documentary style wedding photography. My approach is all about capturing the day naturally as it unfolds so you can focus on enjoying the celebration with your friends and family rather than feeling like you’re stuck in a photoshoot.

If you’re planning a wedding in Hull and looking for natural, relaxed wedding photography that captures the real atmosphere of the day, you’re in the right place.

From the excitement of getting ready in the morning through to the dance floor later in the evening, I aim to tell the full story of your wedding day through honest, fun and emotional photographs that feel true to how the day actually felt.

Being based in Hull means I regularly photograph weddings across the city and the wider East Yorkshire area, while also travelling across Yorkshire and throughout the UK for couples who connect with my style.

Wedding photography that doesn’t feel staged

Almost all the couples I work with tell me they want their wedding to feel like a celebration rather than a photoshoot, and that’s exactly how I approach every wedding I photograph. “I want you to have a wedding, not a photoshoot”

My style is relaxed and fun, allowing the day to unfold naturally while I capture everything happening around you. I want you to look back at your wedding photographs and relive the laughter, the atmosphere and the little moments you didn’t even realise were happening at the time because you were so caught up in the day.

When it comes to couple portraits, I aim to be away for 10-15 minutes max, utilise the beautiful surroundings your venue has to offer, I try to keep this as fun and laid back as possible then get you back to the real action where your guests are!

Popular Wedding Venues in Hull and East Yorkshire

Hull and the surrounding East Yorkshire area is home to some fantastic wedding venues, from stylish city centre spaces to historic venues just outside the city.

Over the years I’ve photographed weddings across Hull and East Yorkshire including venues such as Social Humber Street, Riverlands, Lazaat Hotel, and Tickton Grange Hotel.

Social Humber Street is one of Hull’s most unique city centre venues, located in the heart of the Fruit Market with plenty of character and brilliant photo locations nearby along the waterfront.

Tickton Grange is a beautiful country house venue just outside Beverley, offering elegant gardens and classic Yorkshire charm.

Riverlands is a stunning riverside barn venue surrounded by countryside, perfect for couples wanting a relaxed outdoor celebration.

Lazaat Hotel offers a mix of modern reception spaces and lovely outdoor areas that work perfectly for wedding photography throughout the day.

Each venue has its own atmosphere and character, and part of what I love about photographing weddings in Hull and East Yorkshire is finding creative ways to capture these spaces depending on the light, the setting and the energy of the day

Hull based but will travel across Yorkshire & The UK

Although I’m based in Hull, my work regularly takes me across Yorkshire and beyond. I photograph weddings across East Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and West Yorkshire, and I’m always happy to travel across the UK for weddings as well.

Whether your wedding is taking place in Hull city centre, a countryside venue in Yorkshire or somewhere further afield, my approach always stays the same. My goal is to document the day naturally so that when you look back at your photographs years later, they bring back the atmosphere, the emotions and the energy of the day.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, all the time. I’m based in Hull so I photograph a lot of weddings across the city and East Yorkshire, but I regularly travel across Yorkshire and the rest of the UK as well. I just may have to charge travel costs if it’s more than 2 hours away from HU13

  • My style is relaxed photography. In simple terms, that means I’m not constantly pulling you away or making you pose all day. I want you to have a wedding, not a photoshoot. Most of the day I’m just capturing things as they happen. The laughs, the chaos, the hugs with people you haven’t seen in years and all the little moments you’d probably miss otherwise.

  • Most couples book my full day coverage which normally starts with morning prep and runs through to the first dance and a bit of the party afterwards. That way the whole story of the day gets captured rather than just the ceremony and a few portraits.

  • Most couples book around a year to eighteen months in advance, especially if their wedding is on a Saturday in summer. That said, if your wedding is sooner it’s always worth getting in touch as I do sometimes have last minute availability.

  • Yes. My bespoke package is perfect for smaller weddings, Registry Office Weddings or more intimate celebrations such as elopements. It starts at two hours and you can add extra time if you need it and I’m all for couples who just want their day capturing by themselves!

  • Yes. I offer relaxed couple shoots which are great for engagement photos, anniversaries, updated family photos or just getting comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding. They’re very laid back and usually involve a walk somewhere nice rather than lots of posing.

  • Just send me a message through the contact form on my website with your date and venue. If I’m free we can have a chat about your plans and see if I’m the right fit for your day.
