Natty and Lottie’s Hackness Grange wedding might have been in March, but it felt like summer had turned up early. Sunshine, their favourite people and a dance floor that pretty much everyone got involved in. Me included!
It was my first wedding at Hackness Grange, and what an introduction. If you’re planning your own day here, come and have a look at theirs. There was plenty to love about this one.
A spring wedding at Hackness Grange
Hackness Grange is a country-house wedding venue near Scarborough, in the North York Moors. The house, lake and outdoor ceremony setting give you plenty to work with. Then add Natty, Lottie and their people, and you’ve got a wedding I was very happy to photograph.
The stone building, greenery, their two dresses and the white flowers and foliage in their bouquets all looked lovely together. I’ll photograph those details alongside everything happening around them. You’ve chosen them for a reason, after all.
Getting ready, without turning the morning into a photoshoot
We started with hair and makeup, dresses and shoes, and the conversations happening while everyone got ready. I love keeping that mix. The little interactions matter just as much as a photograph of the outfit once it’s all on.
I’ll fit around your morning, find some good light and help where it’s useful. You can carry on with getting ready. There’s no need to spend it working through a list of poses for me.

Two brides, sunshine and confetti
Their ceremony took place indoors beneath a circular arch of white flowers and greenery. Then it was outside, across the bridge and into a whole load of confetti. Both smiling, bouquets in hand and their people cheering them on. Proper good wedding stuff.
There’s room for a little time together here too. We can use the setting and whatever the light is doing, keep it relaxed and get you back to everyone. Your wedding doesn’t need to stop for the photographs.

A little wander, then that evening light
There’s such a good mix of photographs from their couple shoot. The wooden pavilion with its fairy lights, the curved bridge, the stone steps and the gardens around the house. We kept coming back to the two of them having a laugh together, with their bouquets put down for a sit on the steps or held up in the air on the lawn.
And then the evening light turned up. Golden sunlight through the trees, the two of them on the swing and a few more portraits as the light started to drop. Bloody brilliant. It’s a lovely reason to head out again for a few photographs later in the day, even if we’ve already done some earlier.

A dance floor worth staying for
When the sun went down and the dance floor opened, everyone got on it. This was definitely an evening worth staying for. I couldn’t help joining in myself!
Those party photographs are a big part of it for me. Your people singing, dancing and having a laugh together. I want you to look back through the gallery and recognise the day you had, including everything after the formal bits.
The photos say it all: a bridesmaid down on the dance floor, hair flying, arms in the air and a trainer-clad kick from one of the brides. Everyone getting properly stuck in. These are exactly the bits I want you to have alongside the ceremony and couple photographs.
