Riverlands Wedding Photographer | Ellie & Dave’s Viking Inspired Wedding

Ellie and Dave’s wedding at Riverlands was one of those days that reminds me exactly why I love being a wedding photographer. From the moment guests arrived there was this incredible atmosphere running through the entire day. It was fun, relaxed, full of personality and packed with little details that made the whole celebration feel completely unique to them. And honestly… I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much during a wedding ceremony in my life. Riverlands ended up being the absolute perfect venue for Ellie and Dave’s wedding. Everything about the space suited their vision and the vibe of the day perfectly.

A Perfect Match for Riverlands

Riverlands is already one of my favourite wedding venues to photograph, but Ellie and Dave’s wedding showed exactly why it works so well for couples who want something a little different. The venue has this incredible outdoor space surrounded by nature, which creates such a relaxed and immersive atmosphere for a wedding day. It feels like you’re tucked away from the world, just celebrating with the people who matter most. For Ellie and Dave’s wedding the venue felt like it had been made for them. The whole day had a slightly Viking inspired theme running through it, and Riverlands’ natural setting worked perfectly with that aesthetic. From the wooden structures to the open outdoor ceremony space, everything felt completely in sync with the vibe they had created.

The Most Incredible Floral Display

One of the first things that hit you when you arrived at the wedding was the flowers.

And when I say incredible… I genuinely mean it might be the most insane floral display I’ve ever seen at a wedding.

The ceremony space was overflowing with colour, texture and flowers everywhere you looked. It completely transformed the ceremony area and made the whole space feel magical.

The stunning floral design was created by Floral and Lace, who absolutely knocked it out of the park. The arrangements added so much colour and depth to the ceremony space and looked incredible in photos throughout the day.

A Ceremony I’ll Never Forget

The ceremony itself was led by Boho Ceremonies, and having a celebrant ceremony made the whole experience incredibly personal and relaxed. Celebrant ceremonies allow couples to tell their story in a way that traditional ceremonies sometimes can’t, and Ellie and Dave fully embraced that. Guests were welcomed with Viking music as they arrived, which immediately set the tone for the day and had everyone smiling before the ceremony had even started. Then during the ceremony Dave even had a pint of Guinness from a horn. It was brilliant. The entire ceremony was full of laughter, storytelling and genuine emotion. There were moments where everyone was crying with laughter and others where the whole crowd went completely quiet just listening to their story. It was honestly one of the most entertaining ceremonies I’ve ever witnessed.

Wooden Swords and Incredible Wedding Details

Throughout the venue there were loads of little details that tied everything together and really brought their Viking inspired vision to life. Guests could even grab wooden swords and have a bit of friendly sword fighting which definitely made for some fun moments during the day. The styling and decor across the venue was beautifully put together by Born Boho Hire, who helped transform the space while still keeping that relaxed, natural feel that works so well at Riverlands. It was clear how much thought Ellie and Dave had put into creating an experience for their guests, not just a wedding. And that’s always what makes a day memorable.

Sunshine, Great Energy and an Amazing Party

To top it all off we were blessed with absolutely beautiful weather. The sunshine made Riverlands look incredible and meant guests could fully enjoy the outdoor spaces throughout the day. Ellie looked amazing thanks to Ellie Burdall MUA, while her hair was styled by The Hair Shop by Eileen, both helping bring everything together perfectly. Guests were also treated to incredible food from Embers York, which went down an absolute storm and kept everyone fuelled for the celebrations ahead. From start to finish the whole wedding just had this amazing energy running through it. Everyone was relaxed, smiling, laughing and completely soaking up the day. By the time the evening celebrations kicked off the vibe had turned into a proper party. Those are always the best weddings to photograph because people are just fully in the moment.

Riverlands Weddings

Ellie and Dave’s wedding is exactly why Riverlands is such an incredible wedding venue. It’s a space that gives couples the freedom to create something completely unique, whether that’s a relaxed outdoor ceremony, a themed celebration like this one or simply a beautiful countryside wedding surrounded by nature. And when you combine a venue like Riverlands with a couple like Ellie and Dave, the result is something really special. Ellie and Dave, thank you so much for letting me be part of such an unforgettable day.
